The Public Relations Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Public Relations Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Compensation: $40,000 - $45,000

    Responsibilities:

    • Have a clear understanding of the SCHEELS brand and culture while working as an ambassador to build SCHEELS culture through community engagement
    • Identify and direct local community outreach opportunities, including Helping Hands Program
    • Serve as a representative for SCHEELS at partners events by upholding the highest standards in conduct and appearance
    • Oversee SCHEELS sponsorships by hosting meetings, attending events and evaluating their performance
    • Work with our Pro Staff contracts
    • Foster and create partnerships through donations and local team sport requests
    • Facilitate SCHEELS relationship with United Way and engage associates participation
    • Determine and direct community programs including budget, advertising and staff needs
    • Work with the social team to highlight SCHEELS in the community
    • Identify opportunities to share the SCHEELS story
    • Assist in creating an annual strategy of events that promote and align with the store’s goals and creates customer and store iteration
    • Experience in marketing; and ability to think strategically and creatively
    • Exercise sound judgment and tact as it relates to interactions with consumers, SCHEELS associates and the community
    • Strong oral/ written communication and presentation skills to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and with external audiences
    • Professional in appearance and attitude
    • Ability to work assigned schedule which may include varied hours, evening, weekends and holidays; some travel, including overnight stays
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license

    Education & Work Experience:
    Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field; two – five years of related experience: or
    equivalent combination of degree and experience.


    Physical Requirements/Lifting Requirements:
    Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk,
    and hear with or without reasonable accommodation.
    Medium work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently,
    and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand
    requirements are in excess of those for light work.
