Our Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Infrastructure Systems Engineer for our Buildings and Structures Practice in Oakland, CA.   

You will be responsible for

• Performing accident/incident investigations and causal evaluations for energy sector clients under the direction of senior Exponent consultants
• Performing management and technical assessments of work processes and program compliance for energy sector clients under the direction of senior Exponent consultants
• Developing and implementing analytical tools and frameworks to characterize and assess critical infrastructure risks and support decision making
• Performing engineering analyses related to project work in the energy sector
• Preparing technical reports and presentations related to project work in the energy sector
• Preparing technical proposals and pursuing business development, as directed by senior staff

You will have the following skills and qualifications

• Ph.D. in an engineering discipline (or M.S. degree with significant industry experience)
• EIT or PE (Industrial and Systems, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) licensure preferred
• Technical background in engineering aspects of electric and gas generation, transmission or distribution systems and operation (electrical, mechanical or civil engineering)
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills (Writes clearly and concisely; writing is thorough and technically accurate; Speaks clearly and concisely)
• Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to gather information and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, business, and related industry
• Applies technical knowledge, creativity and innovation in completing assignments
• Efficient and poised under stress; receptive to changes and new ideas; able to prioritize tasks
• Ability to support multiple group projects and market Exponent capabilities

Compensation

Our consultants are rewarded for their technical and business contributions and have an opportunity to plan for future success and career growth. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Associate and Senior Associate level, total compensation includes base salary, bi-weekly bonuses for high-intensity efforts, annual bonus and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.

The base salary range for this position is $110,000 - $130,000 dependent on experience and capabilities which will be assessed during the interview process.
