Psychologist - M.A. evaluates patients for mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders. Diagnoses disorders, including nature and extent, and determines the appropriate course of treatment for the patient. Being a Psychologist - M.A. uses talk therapy to treat patient illness or distress, cannot prescribe medication. Requires a master's degree in clinical psychology. Additionally, Psychologist - M.A. requires a valid state license to practice. Typically reports to a medical director. The Psychologist - M.A. work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group. A specialist on complex technical and business matters. To be a Psychologist - M.A. typically requires 7+ years of related experience.     About the Position:

    • To provide psychological services to the inpatient population. Services include assessment and therapy and behavior management. Incumbent is expected to have the basic skills and training required to be a licensed as a psychologist in the State of Oklahoma. The psychologist may be required to conduct competence to stand trial evaluations after sufficient training and supervision is received as determined by the appointing authority.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

    • Completion of the curriculum requirements for a doctorate in psychology from an accredited college or university with a specialty in counseling psychology AND one academic year in a full-time post-masters or pre-doctoral internship, or one year full-time experience under the direct supervision of a psychologist licensed in the major program of doctoral study.
    • Must be currently licensed by the State of Oklahoma Board of Examiners of Psychologists; or eligible for licensure and willing to obtain licensure within a time frame to be determined by the executive Director.

    Special Requirements:

    • Applicant must be able to pass an OSBI background check.
    • Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver’s license.

    About us: The Oklahoma Forensic Center encompasses a secure inpatient forensic facility, forensic step-down unit Transitions Recovery Center(TRC) and jail competency services for the State of Oklahoma. The Oklahoma Forensic Center (OFC) located in Vinita employs around 260 individuals and has approximately 216 consumers whom have been found incompetent for adjudication or adjudicated as Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity. Transitions Recovery Center (TRC) also in Vinita, is a secure 52-bed forensic step-down unit.

    Drug and Alcohol Pre-employment and Pre-placement Testing: Upon a conditional offer of employment, applicants for safety sensitive positions shall be required to submit to urinalysis to test for drugs. Appointment to a safety sensitive position shall be contingent upon a negative drug test result.
