Diagnoses disorders, including nature and extent, and determines the appropriate course of treatment for the patient. Being a Psychologist - M.A. uses talk therapy to treat patient illness or distress, cannot prescribe medication. Requires a master's degree in clinical psychology. Additionally, Psychologist - M.A. requires a valid state license to practice. Typically reports to a medical director. The Psychologist - M.A. work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group. A specialist on complex technical and business matters. To be a Psychologist - M.A. typically requires 7+ years of related experience. Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient assessments to diagnose mental health conditions and develop treatment plans
- Provide individual and group therapy sessions to patients of all ages, including children, adolescents, and adults
- Offer counseling services to families and caregivers of patients
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and treatment plans
- Conduct research studies to contribute to the field of psychology
- Collect and analyze data related to patient outcomes and treatment effectiveness
- Adhere to ethical guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations
Requirements:
- Hold a valid license as a Psychologist
- Completed post-residency training in a hospital or clinical setting
- Experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum
- Proficient in child and family counseling techniques
- Knowledge of special education practices and resources
- Strong assessment skills to accurately diagnose mental health conditions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction
- Ability to conduct research studies and analyze data effectively
