Oversees the treatment of patients with emotional, mental, and or psychological disorders. Being a Psychological Services Director ensures the psychological division follows regulatory compliance requirements and standard procedures. Requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Additionally, Psychological Services Director typically reports to top management. The Psychological Services Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Psychological Services Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Job Responsibilities:

    • Provide individual and group counseling sessions to clients with adult males under the supervision of the Department of Corrections or Probation. 
    • Conduct pre-release assessments on clients being released on parole.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in accordance with ethical and legal standards.
    • Participate in weekly case staffing. 
    • Stay current on the latest research and best practices in the field of mental health counseling through ongoing professional development.

    Qualifications:

    • A master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
    • Licensure as a counselor (LPC, LMHC, LCSW, or equivalent) in the state of South Dakota. 
    • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with clients and work effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and standards of practice.
    • Flexibility, adaptability, and a positive attitude when faced with challenges or changes in the work environment.
    • Experience working within the prison or with adults and juveniles involved in the criminal justice system is a bonus but not required.
