Psychiatrist jobs in Southfield, MI

Psychiatrist evaluates, diagnoses and treats patients with mental illnesses through a combination of personal counseling (psychotherapy), psychoanalysis, hospitalization, and/or medication. Performs initial psychiatric assessments, develops individualized care plans, and implements treatment for the patient. Being a Psychiatrist prescribes psychopharmacological medications as needed. Monitors and records client progress, and amends treatment plan according to patient response. Additionally, Psychiatrist requires a MD degree. Must have completed a psychiatry residency. Typically reports to a medical director. Typically requires board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). Requires a state license to practice. Psychiatrist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

Three PhDs are responsible for the conduct of NIH and pharmaceutical studies, with international recognition for work in insomnia, circadian disorders, sleep apnea, sleep and pain, sleep pharmacology, and sleep therapies. The ideal candidate would supplement current clinical and research endeavors.

    • Must have completed an ACGME/AOA approved Psychiatry Residency program
    • Must have completed or are currently completing an ACGME/AOA approved Sleep Medicine Fellowship
    • Board certification in Psychiatry and Neurology is ideal
