Overview:

The Factory Engineer Manager, under the supervision of the Plant Manager has the direct responsibility for the overall support structure related to Maintenance activities for equipment and the facility in accordance with all related federal, state, local regulations to include Safety, GMP and company policies. The areas of responsibilities include project management for all site Capital projects and repair projects utilizing both internal staff and outside contractors. Oversight for the CMMS program to include Preventive/Predictive Maintenance and parts management, with the associated metrics. This role will also provide the infrastructure for the maintenance training program to include Developing the required SOPs for Machine set-up, and Operation, also providing the required training for maintenance mechanics.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the facility Master Plan, identifying and then planning for all necessary Capital investments looking out to a 3-year period
• Responsible for all maintenance activities ensuring maintenance objectives are accomplished within the plant.
• Provides leadership/direction, coordinating the Preventative Maintenance program ensuring that the program equipment alarm systems are in an efficient, safe operating cGMP condition.
• Establish the Plans and Guidance for all maintenance activities related to building systems; steam, electrical, gas, water, refrigeration, and cooling systems with outside vendors if required via projects, repairs, or maintenance.
• Oversees inventories of supplies, spare parts, maintenance materials ensuring that the needed parts are accessible, with usage documented.
• Manage and tracks, overtime labor costs, maintenance/repair costs, and equipment downtime ensuring that the staying within the set goals and budgets.
• Establish policy for shift changeovers of equipment or preventative maintenance according to production schedules.
• Ensures compliance with all federal, state, local laws, and company policies.
• Ensure documented guidance, training, growth programs, performance evaluation, coaching and leadership programs are in place for all Maintenance employees.
• Provide guidance and support to other departments for improving process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards
• Ensures compliance to quality, food safety and HAACP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customers, and government standards.
• Directly supervises 2-25 employees in the maintenance area.  Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and results of the maintenance department. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, and appraising employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints/grievances and resolving problems.

PM Pillar:

• Responsible for implementing and leading the PM (Planned Maintenance pillar) and the Plant Management System foundations at the plant.
• Provides internal guidance and coaching to site leadership team on “PM Pillar systems” implementation to make breakthrough improvements on OEE/Site Capacity and Maintenance Cost optimization.
• Drive productivity and efficiency gains through the reduction of Machine and M&R losses to contribute to yearly cost optimization, productivity and critical OEE goals.
• Responsible to establish a culture of empowerment and rigor through the PM Pillar governance and measures at all levels through operational reviews. Track/understand the PM Pillar impact on savings and its achievements to identify potential adjustments / improvements to be implemented
• Deliver appropriate training and coaching to transfer PM pillar systems knowledge to the line teams; perform regular health checks at the different line teams to ensure the correct application of methods and knowledge sharing.
• Implement a process to assure effective best practice sharing and accelerate mutual progress

Qualifications:

• 5-8 years of Maintenance (supervisory/group) leader experience in a manufacturing environment with increasing responsibilities, preferably in a food related GMP industry.
• Demonstrated knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment and functions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• Understands OEE and demands for equipment reliability
• Documented Secondary education related to Engineering or technical school (CMRP Certification) background required.
• Prior experience with a union workforce preferred.
• Strong leadership skills are evident with work history.
• Strong safety knowledge of OSHA Regulations as they apply to maintenance. (NFPA 70E / LOTO etc.)
