    Job Summary:

    The Community Relations Representative serves as an advocate for growth and development for Oswego Health through building and maintaining referral relationships throughout CNY.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Develop and maintain contacts, strengthening relationships and increasing Oswego Health’s referral sources throughout all service areas, including specialty care, ambulatory care, Home Care, mental health inpatient and hospital admissions.
    • Identify and execute comprehensive strategies for achieving targeted objectives to increase referral generation, physician referral engagement, EMS engagement, and community outreach (ie Orthopedic Fast Pass, introduce Chiropractors and Physical Therapy practices to joint replacement program, increase Home Care admissions from Syracuse hospitals as well as referrals to Inpatient Care at The Lobdell Center.)
    • Build strategic relationships by networking with community partners. (ie Introducing new Oswego Health providers to appropriate practices through Lunch & Learns)
    • Plan and market events that provide opportunities for educating community partners on Oswego Health services.
    • Schedule and manage coordination of visits to provider practices, local EMS agencies, clinic and hospital administrators throughout CNY, and other community partners in the field. (This includes coordination of all service lines)
    • Function as the primary contact for referring physician offices for addressing and resolving problems and ensuring accurate and timely communication flow between Oswego Health and referring physician offices.
    • Develop programs that enhance or improve the experience for existing referrals with consistent follow-up, continual collaborative communication, and quick responses to physicians and office staff.
    • Maintain a central database on new and existing physicians and contacts that includes relevant information: contact information, notes from visits/conversations, follow-up, and resolutions.
    • Analyze and review referral data monthly with appropriate leadership to identify provider practices for incremental volume growth.
    • Participate in routine outreach with Senior Executives to highlight strategic objectives and discuss issues.
    • Proactively share positive patient stories and outcomes with referring physicians.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Skills/Abilities (Unit Specific):

    • Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal and public speaking skills.
    • Professionalism and business acumen appropriate for working with executives, physicians, clients, and support staff.
    • Highly motivated, self-starter with excellent time-management skills.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
    • Proficient in standard computer programs, including Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to convert data into informational presentations.
    • General medical knowledge related to Oswego Health’s services, treatment offerings and equipment.

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, healthcare administration or related field required.
    • Minimum of two years’ experience in healthcare, business development, or related field preferred.
    • Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle required.

    Working Conditions:

    • Requires travel for frequent office visits with current or prospective physicians and office staff.
    • Frequently requires calls to physicians, generating referrals and leads, correspondence and mailings, and conducting meetings and presentations.
    • Long periods of sitting, standing, walking and the ability to lift, push, pull or carry up to 25lbs.
    • Requires attendance of various meetings and participation on committees as required.
    • Actively participates in in-service programs, in Quality Assurance programs and CQI, cross training; attends all mandatory classes as required; completes unit-specific competencies.
    • Occasionally requires assignments to other units/shifts as hospital needs require.
    • Complies with DOH requirements for annual health assessments and required immunizations.
    • Complies with regulatory agencies such as Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA), HIPPA, Joint Commission, New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), etc., to meet regulatory requirements as appropriate for position.

    Pay Range: $68,000-$82,000/annual

    Employee salary is based on commensurate experience and other qualifications.
