    Job Summary

    Dominion Energy is looking to hire a Network Specialist located in Norfolk, VA to perform as a technical SME to support Dominion’s Data/Telecommunication Network for the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) location in order to ensure the continuous operation of all related facilities, locations and systems. These systems include but are not limited to; Radio Systems/Handhelds, routers, switches, Wi-Fi access points, LTE Core/RAN, and DWDM systems. Must be self-motivated, a collaborative team member and able to assist and mentor less experienced team members. Expert level knowledge and experience in Data Networking and Telecommunication hardware, standards and protocols are required.

    CVOW will be one of the first and the largest offshore windfarms in the United States. It is located 27 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach and will consist of 176 turbines and 3 offshore substations, with a net generating capacity of approximately 2,600 MW.

    Primary Job Duties, but not limited to

    • At an expert level, be responsible for daily monitoring, maintenance and availability for all Data/Telecommunication devices and networks for CVOW.
    • At an expert level, monitor, maintain, configure and install network/telecommunications devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, radios, phones, handhelds).
    • Be familiar with radio and RF technology and hardware to support and maintain various system. Must also be knowledgeable about regulatory requirements.
    • Perform maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations.
    • Monitor network/system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.
    • Provide expert level support and troubleshooting to resolve complex issues quickly and completely using independent knowledge and judgement. Escalate unresolved issues appropriately and according to defined SLA’s to ensure timely remediation.
    • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure and systems.
    • Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring solutions in order to create appropriate alarms and trending dashboards.
    • Liaise with vendors, IT and business personnel for problem resolution.
    • Develops and documents processes, procedures and standards for associated technology and systems.
    • Follow set processes and maintain documentation and evidence to support regulatory compliance programs.
    • Participate in on-call rotation to provide support for critical systems.
    • Ability to independently organize, plan, and prioritize work, projects and issues, and assist in these regards with less experienced team members.
    • Ability to follow, support and maintain requirements of regulatory programs.
    • The successful candidate must keep current with regulatory and industry standards, trends and practices and assist in the development of pertinent Dominion Energy policies and procedures

    Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

    8 years of networking/telecommunication experience.

    • Strong operational skills in Enterprise routing, switching and telecommunication environments.
    • Expert level understanding of radio and RF systems including, but not limited to, Maritime VHF, aeronautical VHF, 4G LTE and TETRA radios.
    • Expert level understanding of network and telecommunication protocols and physical infrastructure including, but not limited to, STP, Ethernet, fiber, WiFi, AC/DC power, SNMP, etc.
    • Expert level experience with Enterprise grade solutions, such as Cisco, Nokia, Palo Alto and Ericsson.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including network diagraming and process creation.
    • Must be self-motivated, a collaborative team member, and able to self-prioritize work.
    • Experience with NERC CIP environments is a plus.
    • Must be able to lift 45 pounds and pass a USCG medical evaluation.
    • Due to safety requirements and equipment limitations, individuals in this role have a weight restriction of 265 pounds.
    • Experience working in a 24x7 operations environment is a plus.

    Education Requirements

    Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor's.

    Other Education: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Math or Business or technical equivalent.

    Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

    Must be able to obtain, and maintain, Global Wind Organization (GWO) Basic Safety, Tower Rescue and First Aid / CPR in order to perform work offshore.
