Dominion Energy is looking to hire a Network Specialist located in Norfolk, VA to perform as a technical SME to support Dominion’s Data/Telecommunication Network for the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) location in order to ensure the continuous operation of all related facilities, locations and systems. These systems include but are not limited to; Radio Systems/Handhelds, routers, switches, Wi-Fi access points, LTE Core/RAN, and DWDM systems. Must be self-motivated, a collaborative team member and able to assist and mentor less experienced team members. Expert level knowledge and experience in Data Networking and Telecommunication hardware, standards and protocols are required.
CVOW will be one of the first and the largest offshore windfarms in the United States. It is located 27 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach and will consist of 176 turbines and 3 offshore substations, with a net generating capacity of approximately 2,600 MW.
8 years of networking/telecommunication experience.
Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor's.
Other Education: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Math or Business or technical equivalent.
Must be able to obtain, and maintain, Global Wind Organization (GWO) Basic Safety, Tower Rescue and First Aid / CPR in order to perform work offshore.
Physical Ability: Must be able to lift 45 pounds and pass a USCG medical evaluation. Due to safety requirements and equipment limitations, individuals in this role have a weight restriction of 265 pounds.
