Description:
Under the supervision of the Senior Manager, IT Business Operations, and according to specified procedures, the Provider Specialist is responsible for coordinating and providing training and support to providers on the electronic medical record and periphery applications attached to it. This role involves creating and implementing service strategies, ensuring alignment with business goals, coordinating with stakeholders, optimizing processes, handling incidents, and escalations, and continuously improving service quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintains thorough understanding of site-specific physician adoption plan.
Regularly reviews progress towards goals and objectives detailed in the plan.
Coordinates and provides training for the medical record and all periphery applications associated with the delivery of patient care.
Coordinates and provides physician training using a variety of methods: classroom, computer based, and one-on-one.
Maintains education material and proficiency requirements.
Tracks physician training and proficiency requirements.
In collaboration with the Medical Staff office, coordinates and provides new physician orientation.
If applicable, coordinates physician remote access connection to the EMR.
Advises physician office staff on the technical requirement for remote access.
Coordinates, provides, and tracks training for physician office staff.
Promotes maximum utilization of EMR within the provider group.
Serves as primary contact for physician EMR related issues.
Provides ongoing techniques to better incorporate and utilize the EMR. Facilitates the creation, use and maintenance of order sets.
Other duties as assigned.
Proficiency in computer skills (accurate data entry), professional communication skills, ability to multi-task, critical thinking skills (ability to assess calls and triage accordingly).
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this position.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Senior Manager, IT Business Operations
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Must have a strong clinical background and knowledge of patient care settings and clinical practice. Nursing experience preferred but other diagnostic and therapeutic experience is acceptable. Experience typically supported by license in a medically related field such as nursing, pharmacy, medical technology, or Emergency Medical Technician.
Work Experience:
3-5 years’ experience in a clinical setting, preferably in a multi-entity healthcare system. Experience with clinical information systems or computerized physician order management preferred.
