Resident Support Specialist
Sojourners Care Network is a non-profit organization that provides shelter and support services to young people who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. We are looking for compassionate and dedicated Resident Support Specialists to join our team and help us fulfill our mission of empowering youth to achieve their goals and live independently.

As a Resident Support Specialist, you will:

• Help to provide a safe and supportive environment for all young people being served.
• Facilitate pre-planned skill development activities for shelter residents.
• Provide mental health supportive services as identified on residents’ Individualized Services Plans (ISP).
• Assist residents in meeting any basic needs including, when approved, providing transportation support.
• Help residents explore and access identified Job Training & Education supports and services.
• Regularly document mental/behavioral health services provided as well as participant progress toward goals.
• Ensure residents are treated in an ethical/non-judgmental manner including adherence to the highest possible level of confidentiality.
• Comply with Ohio’s mandated reporter laws and procedures.

Qualifications
To be a successful Resident Support Specialist, you should have:

• A high school diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement).
• A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for the past 4 years and reliable transportation (required).
• A minimum of one year of experience working with youth in a social service setting (preferred).
• A strong understanding of the issues and challenges faced by homeless youth. Lived experience is a plus.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• The ability to handle stressful and crisis situations with professionalism and compassion.
• The ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• The ability to pass background checks and drug screening.

Type of Position
Part-time, not to exceed 35 hours per week. Base starting pay is $15 per hour; $16 per hour for weekends and Sojourners holidays.

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 35 per week

Schedule:

• Day shift
• Evening shift
• Monday to Friday
• Weekends as needed

Ability to Relocate:

• Athens, OH 45701: Relocate before starting work (Required)
