PURPOSE

The Network Systems Support Specialist will be at the forefront of deploying and maintaining the critical network infrastructure for our rural critical access hospital. This role involves hands-on work with both wireless and wired networks, system backups, interdepartmental support, and collaboration with various stakeholders. Your expertise will ensure the seamless and secure operation of the Hospital IT systems, directly contributing to the healthcare services we provide to our community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Network Configuration and Maintenance:

• Implement, manage, and ensure the integrity of high-availability networks (both wired and wireless).
• Conduct regular audits to assess the health and security of the network.
Install new cabling and hardware as needed, following industry and manufacturer standards.

System and Configuration Backups:

• Configure and monitor regular backup operations, ensuring all critical data is protected and recoverable.
Conduct routine audits of backup systems and procedures, executing recovery drills and improving processes.

Interdepartmental System Support:

• Provide technical support for various internal systems, including EHR, dictation, PACS, and vendor interfaces.
Collaborate with departments to understand and meet their system requirements.

Server Management and Virtualization:

• Deploy, configure, and manage servers utilizing virtualization technologies.
Monitor system performance and execute necessary updates or upgrades.

Communication and Collaboration:

• Maintain clear lines of communication with internal stakeholders and external partners regarding system functionalities and ongoing projects.
Document all procedures, configurations, and system changes, maintaining an up-to-date internal knowledge base.

Problem-Solving:

• Actively engage in troubleshooting and problem resolution, applying creative thinking to overcome challenges in a timely manner.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• In-depth understanding of network architecture, including experience with wireless and wired network setup, management, and security principles.
• Proficiency in backup methodologies and technologies, ensuring data integrity and availability.
• Hands-on experience with major virtualization technologies, particularly for server environments.
• Familiarity with hospital-related systems (such as EHR, Dictation and PACS) is a significant plus.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Availability for emergency situations, which may include after-hours or weekend interventions, is expected, in line with the critical nature of hospital operations.
