What does a typical day at the Ohio County Family Support Center look like? That depends! The focus of our work is being a partner to parents, helping them nurture and support their children using the Protective Factors Framework. You’ll be involved in planning, promoting and implementing activities each month including a peer-to-peer parent group, evidence-based parenting education, family events, and outreach with the community and target populations. You will coordinate with two experienced contracted staff as co-facilitators of evidence-based programs and will supervise one full-time and one part-time employee.
The Ohio County Family Resource Network (FRN) is seeking a Director for our Family Support Center. Under the supervision of the FRN Executive Director, the Family Support Center Director will build programming through collaboration with other organizations and is guided by parent input and community needs.
The Ohio County Family Resource Network is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded in 1992 as a pilot site under the Governor's Cabinet on Children and Families. We are seeking a motivated individual eager to join our team to oversee the Center, a program funded through the State of West Virginia. Ideal candidate will be energetic, flexible, and proactive with a passion for the mission to support families.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution, or comparable job experience, with major course work in health sciences, social services, public administration or a related field. Work experience with youth and families, especially vulnerable populations, is a plus.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY
The Director is responsible for the overall operations and services held through the Ohio County Family Support Center, a program of the Ohio County Family Resource Network. They will create and facilitate a welcoming environment for parents, children and the community and facilitate community-based programming designed to increase the ability of families to nurture their children. This will include parent education, resource and referrals, peer-to-peer groups, skill building workshops, family activities and other initiatives built around the Strengthening Families Protective Factors framework and Family Support Principles. The Director has supervisory duties of Family Support Center Program Coordinator and Family Support Center Program Assistant. This position communicates with Ohio County Family Resource Network Executive Director regularly regarding all areas of service operations.
