Provider Contracting Manager manages the activities of the contracting staff that prepare and maintain contracts and the contracts database system for a health plan network. Responsible for negotiating with facilities joining the health network and setting rates. Being a Provider Contracting Manager oversees network reporting requirements to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, and to produce accurate and relevant reporting of data. Trains and develops staff. Additionally, Provider Contracting Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Provider Contracting Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Provider Contracting Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     This position is located in our brand-new Oakland City Center location, or remotely (within the state of California). We are flexible provided you are open to traveling to the Oakland office locations as needed.  

    About Your Work 

    Are you ready to step into a pivotal role where your leadership skills will shine? As the Manager of Provider Contracting at Altais, you will lead our Provider Contracting Team with finesse and strategic vision. Your primary responsibilities will encompass overseeing the negotiation and network adequacy for all ancillary and hospital providers within our network. You'll be the linchpin of our cross-functional team, collaborating directly with various managed care operational departments to ensure seamless integration and success. Your influence will extend beyond mere oversight; you'll play a critical role in expanding our network while maintaining its integrity. Building and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders such as hospitals, large physician groups, and ancillary providers will be second nature to you. You'll serve as the primary liaison for operational matters, fostering synergy through joint operation meetings. Your expertise in contract management and negotiation will be instrumental in securing favorable agreements with diverse provider types.     You will focus on:

    • Develop and implement corporate contracting strategies to stabilize healthcare costs and manage budget constraints effectively.
    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key hospitals, network providers, and ancillary vendors.
    • Lead negotiations for both fee-for-service and value-based reimbursements across diverse provider groups.
    • Analyze financial performance and healthcare costs of provider contracts in collaboration with the Finance Division.
    • Drive seamless contract implementations and swiftly resolve any arising issues.
    • Design and execute quality-driven value-based contracting incentives and reimbursement methodologies.
    • Expertly navigate and resolve complex contractual issues with both internal and external stakeholders.
    • Coordinate and lead joint operation meetings with essential provider partners to optimize collaboration and performance.
    • Provide comprehensive training to the contracting team on operational changes and upcoming projects.
    • Ensure accurate and timely communication of new and renewed managed care arrangements internally.

    The Skills, Experience & Education You Bring 

    • Education: Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field preferred; advanced degree desirable.
    • Professional Background: Over 8 years of experience in managed healthcare administration, preferably in IPA/managed care settings, with a strong financial background and expertise in contract preparation.
    • People Management Experience: Previous experience in team leadership and development.
    • Healthcare Industry Insight: Extensive knowledge across various healthcare sectors.
    • Contracting Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of healthcare contracting and reimbursement methodologies.
    • Effective Communication: Outstanding ability to communicate with various stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
    • Management Skills: Proficient in guiding teams and fostering skill development to achieve goals.
    • Analytical Aptitude: Strong skills in financial analysis and performance interpretation.
    • Interpersonal Savvy: Highly adept at building and maintaining collaborative relationships.
    • Negotiation Expertise: Proven track record in negotiating strategic initiatives.

    The anticipated pay range for this role is listed in our salary posting for transparency but may vary based on factors including the candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and geographic location. This base pay range is specific to California and can vary based on Bay Area, Metro LA, and Greater California regions which may not be applicable to other locations.

    Physical Requirements: Office Environment - roles involving part to full time schedule in Office Environment. Based in our physical offices and work from home office/deskwork – Activity level: Sedentary, frequency most of workday.
