Project Director OSP Telecom Construction FTTH
  • Rockport Contracting LLC
  • Albuquerque, NM FULL_TIME
  • Hello!

This job listing is for a Project Director/Senior Project Manager for a program of work constructing OSP telecommunications FTTH projects and associated backbone. We need someone who is experienced with successfully running a large FTTH operation.

(First, some housekeeping: Please only apply if you have run entire projects at this level. Unfortunately, this is not an opportunity to level up--we need someone who has already fulfilled this role successfully. We are looking for an active project director, who spends most of their time in the field. This is a director position, but we want you out in the field with the crews, inspectors, and project managers monitoring the work--we see this as an 80% in-the-field/on-the-ground position. Please take a moment and consider that before deciding to apply--we do not want an office general, you must continually be among the troops. Also there will be a production ramp, so we see it starting out with you as the sole direct project manager, evolving into a senior project manager position with inspectors and maybe one or two project managers under you, and then growing to more of a project director position--but we'd like to start with a person who can serve at the director level).

    Experience Needed includes:

    • Successful execution of FTTH construction projects with prior field experience and a hands-on, in-the-field, active management approach.
    • Management of 50 drill, trench, aerial, and splicing crews working in multiple locations; production and office management.

Likely structure of office/project personnel will be:

    • Project Director (You)
    • Project Managers/Inspectors (5 )
    • Admins 1-2
    • Additional support from headquarters personnel

    Responsibilities include:

Management and detailed knowledge of all project construction/production requirements. Management of subs, in-house, and field personnel. Successful setup and management of:

    • Production Inspection and Approval
    • Production Quality Control
    • Production Reporting
    • Crew Relations and Management
    • Safety Management
    • Work Assignments, Work Queue Management
    • Materials Oversight - Materials Handling, Issuance, and Inventory Management
    • Restoration/Repairs Relations and Management
    • Locates Management
    • Equipment Provisioning and Management

Management and detailed knowledge of all project administrative requirements. Hiring and management of project administrative staff. Successful setup and management of:

    • Redlines/As-Builts Creation and Management
    • Payroll Preparation and Approval
    • Materials/Inventory Management and Tracking
    • Locates Tracking
    • Permits Applications and Tracking
