    JOB DESCRIPTION

    POSITION Estimator CLASSIFICATION Full Time, Salaried

    COMPANY OPSM FLSA STATUS Exempt

    DEPARTMENT Contracting REPORT TO Vice President

    POSITION SUMMARY
    The Estimator will be responsible for obtaining and compiling the necessary information to prepare job cost estimates and bids. The Estimator is technically competent, understands Trade Standards, applies best practice standards, and can accurately estimate to maximize profitability.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Prepare estimates, bids and proposals for the installation, repair, and/or replacement of equipment and systems.
    • Review published plans and specifications, conduct site visits, assess existing conditions that may affect the estimate, meet with client/owner as needed
    • Prepare accurate take-offs to determine material, component, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
    • Estimate all direct and indirect “in-house” labor needs
    • Consult with Field Supervisors, Project Managers, Coordinators, Safety Manager and other company personnel as needed
    • Formulate pricing and draft estimates and proposals using approved cost factors, processes, following established procedures
    • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts involving estimates, bids, and proposals
    • Participate in job turnover meetings
    • Respond to requests for assistance and support from other company personnel involved in the estimating of construction, repair, or maintenance of mechanical systems and/or equipment state-wide.
    • Review industry publications, monitor technological changes/improvements and new developments in the industry
    • Make recommendations on ways to improve workflow and increase productivity and efficiency
    • Develop positive business relationships with vendors, clients, owners and subcontractors
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • 3 years estimating experience, HVAC knowledge desirable
    • Ability to work with changing priorities demands and deadlines while maintaining sound analytical and problem- solving skills.
    • Conscientious about timeliness of assignments and quality of work product
    • Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability to effectively interact with operation personnel and management
    • Ability to work independently, collecting and processing data and information, formulating conclusions and making recommendations
    • Promptly address any issues or questions, maintaining a professional demeanor at all times.
    • Technically competent with various software programs, such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Quickpen.
    • Driver’s License, with a clean driver abstract
    • Able to travel as needed for project

    WORK ENVIRONMENT
    Primary work environment is in an air-conditioned office at a computer work station. Normal work hours are Monday –
    Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break. May be subject to irregular working hours including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, depending on business demands. Travel may be required to meet project needs.
