Duties:
- Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to determine material, labor, and equipment requirements
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for estimating purposes
- Utilize software tools such as Bluebeam and Edge to assist in the estimation process
- Research and analyze historical data to determine costs of similar projects
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing
- Review contracts and negotiate pricing with vendors and subcontractors
- Monitor project costs throughout the construction process to ensure adherence to budget
- Provide support in value engineering efforts to optimize project costs without compromising quality
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of construction estimating principles and practices
- Experience in commercial tenant improvements - flooring, windows, doors, painting, framing, trim, drywall, electrical, plumbing etc.
- Proficiency in project management software such as Bluebeam and Edge
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing from vendors and subcontractors
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and other technical documents
- Strong analytical skills to accurately estimate project costs based on available information
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in cost calculations
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders involved in the estimation process
- Familiarity with cost control techniques to monitor project expenses
- Experience in construction management or related field is preferred
