Property and Evidence Clerk receives, records, stores, and safeguards evidence collected from crime investigations.   • Marcum Search LLC is assisting their client in finding a Property Accountant to join their growing premier Real Estate Development Firm.

    The Property Accountant is responsible for general accounting functions for a portfolio of commercial properties. Candidates should possess strong problem solving and organizational skills, ability to multi- task and work independently in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines with a keen attention to detail. Must have the ability to interact in a professional manner with all levels of the organization and provide superior customer service.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Perform daily activities such as receive checks, post receipts, and prepare deposits; prepare and post payable invoices; and post tenant billing and billing adjustments.
    • Perform monthly CAM and tenant billbacks.
    • Prepare and enter journal entries to the general ledger – standard, recurring, reversing, adjusting, reclassing, intercompany, prepaids, accruals, etc.
    • Reconcile key balance sheet and income statement accounts consistently and accurately on a monthly basis for assigned portfolio.
    • Review and maintain tenant ledgers and rent rolls; prepare and send monthly statements.
    • Investigate and resolve accounting and billing issues.
    • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements for assigned portfolio.
    • Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and compliance requirements.
    • Prepare annual budget documents.
    • Maintain vendor files, W-9s and process 1099s.
    • Receive accounting inquiries with tenants, vendors and in-house personnel concerning property issues and report to Property Manager and Accounting Manager.
    • Maintain internal controls.
    • Identify and recommend process improvement changes.
    • Other responsibilities and projects as assigned.

    Qualifications and Skills

    • Minimum of an associate degree in Accounting or Finance required.
    • Minimum 3 years of general ledger accounting experience.
    • Property management accounting experience preferred.
    • Microsoft Office and basic Excel skills.
    • Attention to detail, quality, and accuracy.
    • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
    • Self-motivated and able to work independently, work well under deadlines, and multi-task.
    • Team player with willingness to be flexible and cooperate to ensure team objectives are met.
