Property Casualty Underwriting Supervisor oversees activities of the property/casualty underwriting department. Provides supervision for a group of underwriters who review, analyze and inspect property/casualty insurance contracts, which includes accident insurance, crime insurance, loss of property insurance. Being a Property Casualty Underwriting Supervisor experienced in risk management and complex applications. Analyzes various rate plans utilizing a company's claims history to determine the appropriate rate plan and benefits costs. Additionally, Property Casualty Underwriting Supervisor may assist with analysis of large accounts. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically requires certification as a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Property Casualty Underwriting Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Property Casualty Underwriting Supervisor typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     We are currently seeking an Underwriting Assistant to support policy quote, issuance, and maintenance of a profitable book of business through adherence of underwriting policies/guidelines and regulatory requirements, as well as the ability to build and maintain positive and constructive agency relationships.

    Successful candidates will have had prior business experience in any of the following industries:

    • Insurance underwriting or brokering
    • Financial services, such as banking
    • Mortgage underwriting
    • Financial consulting services
    • Credit analysis
    • Asset management
    • Risk management

    Your background should include:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics or Political Science, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
    • 1 - 3 years of prior insurance experience (carrier or agency).
    • Knowledge of insurance principles including basic insurance concepts, terminology, and underwriting guidelines; Workers’ Compensation insurance concepts, a plus.
    • Capability of assessing risk factors and evaluating data to make informed decisions.
    • Ability to effectively collaborate with customers and agents to gather necessary information and convey decisions.
    • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate information critically to assess risks and make sound decisions.
    • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to explain complex concepts and policies to agency personnel.
    • High level of attention to detail, especially regarding documentation and record keeping
    • Proficiency in using desktop applications, e.g., Microsoft Office products, to generate emails, forms/letters, reports, and presentations as well as search and download information from the internet.
    • Skill to accurately perform basic mathematical calculations involving decimals, fractions, and percentages.
    • Capability of producing grammatically correct correspondence.
    • Self-motivated and proactive attitude that lends itself to accurate and timely account management.
