Property Casualty Underwriting Manager manages and oversees the property/casualty insurance underwriting program for individuals and/or groups, such as accident insurance, crime insurance, loss of property insurance etc. Implements guidelines and procedures regarding risk exposure, application renewal, acceptance, modification, and denial. Leads and trains the underwriters to ensure integrity of property and casualty underwriting activities and processes. Being a Property Casualty Underwriting Manager experienced in risk management and complex applications. Provides consultative support for large accounts. Additionally, Property Casualty Underwriting Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires certification as a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Property Casualty Underwriting Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Property Casualty Underwriting Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Insurance Property Casualty Underwriting Technician

  • Join a thriving underwriting staff within the property and casualty field. You will be responsible for producing detailed assessments and documents. A hybrid/remote working environment is possible in proximity to Madison, Wisconsin.Compensation:

    $34,000 - $41,000 annually based on experience (paid on an hourly basis)

    Responsibilities:

    • Prepare account analysis (excel workbook) based on the commercial renewal listing, large account listing, loss alerts, diaries, and any other underwriting request.
    • Prepare requested underwriting diaries and refer them to management for distribution on their activation dates. Handle certain diaries as directed by management.
    • Order updated underwriting documents or reports, such as financial information from Experian, updated drivers list from the agent, motor vehicle reports from Lexis Nexis, loss history report, business income worksheets, statements of values, and other requested reports from the underwriter.
    • Review motor vehicle reports and forward for appropriate action according to authority level.
    • Issue unilateral letters and loss prevention letters for the commercial, farm, and loss control units as directed by the underwriting staff.
    • Prepare policy documentation on underwriting actions or decisions as outlined by the underwriter and attach any supporting documentation to the e-file.
    • Load, update, and maintain the policy information in the commercial renewal policy log.
    • Handle change requests according to authority level.
    • Handle department mail.
    • Assist with department meeting preparations.
    • Supply ordering.
    • Scan and log premium audit packets.
    • Assist underwriting management with administrative duties.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Three years of experience in P&C insurance, preferably in commercial lines.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to work independently and multi-task.
    • Demonstrated personal computer skills with the ability to use Microsoft Suite, especially Excel.
