Property Casualty Underwriting Manager manages and oversees the property/casualty insurance underwriting program for individuals and/or groups, such as accident insurance, crime insurance, loss of property insurance etc. Implements guidelines and procedures regarding risk exposure, application renewal, acceptance, modification, and denial. Leads and trains the underwriters to ensure integrity of property and casualty underwriting activities and processes. Being a Property Casualty Underwriting Manager experienced in risk management and complex applications. Provides consultative support for large accounts. Additionally, Property Casualty Underwriting Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires certification as a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Property Casualty Underwriting Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Property Casualty Underwriting Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

    • Account maintenance, invoicing, file set up and maintenance, premium finance arrangement, accounting issues internally and with the carriers.
    • Frequent client and carrier contact and correspondence; policy and premium agreement review; processing of all policy transactions throughout the year.
    • Issuance of binders, certificates of insurance, automobile ID cards, and other documents as requested.
    • Initiate applications/submissions (Acord or free form), request and complete loss and exposure historical summaries and other marketing documentation for marketing account execs, policy registers and summaries for clients, including stewardship review materials.
    • Check ratings, premium and tax calculations, audits and other premium bearing endorsements.
    • Essential skills include knowledge of coverage forms, rating plans; should be familiar with risk finance/deductible program mechanics and have the ability to deal with/converse with underwriters on a broad range of issues.
    • Must have analytical ability to assist clients in solving routine problems.
    • Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
    • 2 years in related experience in a similar position
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience
       

    REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    • Appropriate insurance licenses in each state where business is being solicited

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, P&C agency automation software, Contact Management and the ability to learn and utilize industry specific software as required
