Overview
Responsible for client retention, customer servicing, providing insurance related technical support including providing guidance to clients in terms of risk management, coverage and claim mitigation recommendations. Assist in growing the book of business in the territories of the Account Executives they support. Share best practices within the team as well as other internal departments. Oversee service team in respective branch which includes monitoring and mentoring team to ensure compliance with accountabilities, adherence to internal policies and procedures and overall individual and team development.
Keenan, an Accretive company, is an insurance brokerage and consulting firm meeting the insurance needs of hospitals, public entities and California school districts. Keenan specializes in providing consulting services in the areas of: employee benefits, workers' compensation, loss control, financial, and property & liability.
What You'll Do
- Manage and maintain a portfolio of School District/ Public Entity accounts.
- Provide proactive day-to-day client service by anticipating client needs and responding to client questions and issues in a timely manner.
- Oversee renewal process (i.e. collect payroll information, monitor questionnaire process, review spreadsheet/proforma for accuracy, send binders, policies/MOCs, renewal invoices and certificates, etc.).
- Establish and maintain client relationships by providing regular visits and open communication.
- Be proficient with Sagitta (or current agency operating system), the Intranet, and Microsoft programs (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Process endorsements and invoices.
- Work closely with other internal departments on client related issues (PCA, SETECH, Claims, Loss Control, etc.).
- Issue and/or approve Certificates of Coverage.
- Perform receivable/collection activities but include AE in process if it becomes apparent it will be difficult to collect.
- Review insurance requirements of client/vendor contracts to ensure client is adequately protected.
- Establish and maintain comprehensive JPA and District files (Client Files, Marketing, Agendas & Minutes, Reference, Permanent).
- Attend ongoing educational/training programs required by the State to maintain current license status.
- Be familiar with Government, Labor, and Educational Codes to ensure that clients are in compliance.
- Keep Account Executive informed on all important issues relative to client.
- Mentor and train branch service team to ensure compliance with internal procedures, and the accuracy, quality and timeliness of work product.
- Ensure team meets internal standards and accountabilities.
- Meet deadlines and effectively handle multiple priorities.
- Attend required meetings/conferences.
- Coordinate and conduct team meetings.
- Be familiar with JPA and its Administration Requirements, (e.g. Timelines of JPA Functions, Brown Act, Secretary of State Filings, Admin Guide, Policies & Procedures, Bylaws, Resolutions, etc.).
- Develop a rapport with internal and external clients to maintain strong working relationships.
- Review current coverage, exposure, loss experience and analyze risk to determine product/service requirements.
- Work with legal department and department heads to develop and prepare Keenan contracts.
- Advise client on coverage, legislative developments, industry status/trends and funding alternatives.
- Prepare agenda packets, attend JPA meetings, and take minutes.
- Understand MOC, commercial lines coverage, forms and policies.
- Keep abreast of changing marketplace, competitors and alternative coverage options.
- Understand all financial data, (e.g. financial statements, audits, actuarial studies and their impact on a self-insured program).
- Facilitate with the Account Executive and PCA, and or Torrance Marketing, the marketing, negotiation, and placement of new and renewal business, including assisting in preparation of response to RFP's, completing applications, providing all necessary underwriting information, reviewing quotations for accuracy and competitiveness.
- Participate with renewal and strategic planning meetings with clients.
- Gather necessary information from client in order to prepare comprehensive risk evaluations, proposals and reports.
- Understand Keenan products and assist with developing leads and cross selling opportunities.
- Advise client regarding complex risk management issues.
- Assist with developing global account strategies for existing accounts.
- Assist with developing regional education workshops for customer.
- Responsible to follow up and track progress on the RIAP and facilitate a report on that progress at team meetings.
- Conduct and oversee JPA meetings, including establish strategic agenda items, agenda packets, and take (or oversee) minutes.
- Analyze MOC, commercial lines coverage, forms and policies and provide guidance and consultation to customers on coverage related issues. Keep abreast of changing marketplace, competitors and alternative coverage options.
- Provide explanations on all financial data, (e.g. financial statements, audits, actuarial studies and their impact on a self-insured program).
- Develop retention strategy for jeopardy and/or risk accounts as identified and present them to Account Executive and Service Manager for concurrence and feedback prior to implementation.
- Analyze and prepare information from client in order to prepare comprehensive risk evaluations, proposals and reports.
- Proactively promote Keenan products and develop leads and cross-selling opportunities.
- Develop plan for client to assist client with complex risk management issues.
- All other duties as assigned.

Compensation
The target salary range for this position is $95,000.00 to $125,000.00 (US Dollar) annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location. Hybrid remote work environment flexibility.
What You'll Need
- A minimum of six (6) years insurance experience in account service position required.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent insurance experience.
- Strong background and knowledge of all property and casualty commercial coverages including professional liability required.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- The ability to work well under pressure without supervision.
- Insurance Solicitor’s License required.
- Seminars and IEA courses such ARM, CPCU and RPLU classes encouraged.
