Do you have incredible attention to detail? Got irrationally strong opinions about the the serial comma? Did you easily pick up on the extra “the” in that last sentence? If so, you might be the perfect fit for a proofreading position at Pinckney Hugo Group.
As proofreader, you’ll serve as quality control for all agency projects. That means reviewing materials across digital, social, print and other types of applications to make sure our work is accurate and free of errors. You will also be asked to become the go-to style expert for the clients you work on, creating cheat sheets and guides to support the team. This role may also include managing the flow of proofing projects through the agency and helping to prioritize projects.
We’re looking for a diligent and detail-oriented proofreader who:
- Proofreads and makes editing corrections to copy decks, scripts, layouts, storyboards, new-business decks, direct mail materials, websites, microsites, web banners, interactive media, screen grabs, videos and similar materials during all phases of a project
- Verifies basic facts and makes corrections as appropriate
- Ensures consistency within a project and across multiple projects
- Verifies that approved changes have been made. Makes corrections as appropriate
- Maintains and distributes terminology guides, as needed
- Performs broad-scale consistency audits as needed
- Keeps calm and maintains a positive attitude under pressure
ABOUT YOU
You have some experience! Minimum of 3 years of hands-on proofreading and editing experience. Interactive or advertising industry experience is nice to have, but not required. You’re knowledgeable about the rules and guidelines of language. A bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism or a related field is preferred.
You’re detail-oriented! You have excellent written communication skills including a command of grammatical rules and familiarity with referencing style guides.
You’re process-oriented! You’re appreciative of creative and the creative process, and are accountable and accurate.
You love evolving! You thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative and team focused environment, and have the flexibility to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines. You’re diligent, proficient and productive.

Base Salary Range: $55k-$85k (dependent upon location and experience)
