We are looking for a front of house leader to assist with overseeing the food service at the Memphis Sports and Event Center. The Memphis Sports & Events Center features indoor basketball and volleyball courts and is adaptable for other sports like wrestling, gymnastics, cheerleading, futsal, and more, as well as convocation, and commencement events. The Center also includes two cafe and a concessions areas while also offering catering and high volume boxed meals.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with the execution and details of day-to-day café food service operations and assisting with overseeing the team and logistics during catering events. 
• Work very closely with GM, Culinary, and Operations team to understand and maintain needs for multiple coinciding events. 
• Be an onsite supervisor during food service times. 
  • The cafe operates 5-7 days per week.
  • Catering events are typically over the weekends and are frequent throughout the month
• Managing time effectively to ensure all BEO/menu items are completed prior to service times. 
• Managing the team that is scheduled to run each event. 
• Responsible for setting buffet stations which may include décor, linens, and China. 
• Ensure the client is communicated with and checked in on throughout the event. 
• Assist with on-the-job training of new employees ensuring all staff is set up for success. 
• Attending and executing each assigned event to ensure that it runs smoothly from the set-up to the break-down.  
• Assisting in post-event tasks including inputting payroll and inventory as directed. 
• Performs other related duties as needed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• 2 years of experience in a lead culinary role with experience in catering or high volume.
• Ability to produce menu items consistently and in high volume.
• Leadership qualities with a focus on team development

• Strong Customer Service skills with the desire to go above and beyond a client’s needs

Work Environment   

The work environment for this position will mainly be food & beverage front of house operations located within the Memphis Sports & Events Center. This position will often move throughout the venue. Events may take place in indoor or outdoor settings. 

Physical Demands:  

• Prolonged periods of moving through an event space, and traveling throughout the large venue.
• Bending, lifting, scooping, and carrying miscellaneous equipment and food items  
• Ability to perform physical tasks; such as but not limited to, lifting approx. 30 lbs.

Position Salary & Benefits: 

• This is considered an hourly part-time position at $18/hour 
• The schedule for this position may range depending on business needs but will often consist of either a morning shift covering breakfast operations or a later shift covering dinner service.
