  • The American Lung Association has an excellent opportunity for a Specialist, Health Promotions. Working as a member of the Health Promotion & Education department, you will join an outstanding group of professionals dedicated to our mission: to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through research, education, and advocacy.

    The person in this role will implement meeting facilitation and notetaking, and coordinate and maintain adherence to the American Lung Association TB Education Program in Indiana. Provide support for Health Promotions divisions by maintaining SharePoint site, managing grant tracking, managing and auditing resource material libraries, compiling end-of-year highlights, and providing scheduling assistance. This is a grant funded position.

    Location: The preferred location for this role is Indianapolis, Indiana but we are also considering remote applicants and encourage candidates in any location in the United States to apply.

    Responsibilities:

    • Serve as the point person to process payments, create, and distribute basic validation and instructor cards for the Indiana TB Education program.
    • Work with Indiana TB Education Task Forces to periodically review and update program material and Instructor Manual as needed to ensure fidelity of the program.
    • Work with TB Education Task Forces to schedule, facilitate/take notes, and ensure follow-up of tasks at meetings, task forces, and continuing education events.
    • Audit and maintain existing databases and online health education libraries.
    • Create new and maintain health promotion SharePoint sites.
    • Asist with internal requests, presentations, and EOY highlights and reports.
    • Select and participate in local, state, and national seminars and courses designed to increase skills and knowledge related to job requirements.
    • Serve on American Lung Association’s regional and national workgroups and committees as requested.
    • Participate in and support area events and other activities as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in public health or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
    • Minimum two years of experience implementing community awareness, education, and programs specifically related to areas of public health.
    • Prior experience in public health, community relations, public policy, and/or advocacy.
    • Must be a self-starter with excellent communication skills both written and oral.
    • Positive attitude with the ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team environment.
    • Must have a valid Driver’s license and your own reliable transportation with the ability to travel within assigned area 25% of the time for meetings and conferences, as well as the flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends with some overnights required.
    • Able to work with minimum direct supervision, make decisions, and take initiative.
    • Proven ability to cultivate and steward relationships across a diverse population.
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Internet applications.
    • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

    Compensation: Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. The target hiring range for this position is between $45,500 and $51,000 per annum.

    • Paid Leave - 10 vacation days in the first year (15 days thereafter), 2 personal days and 15 sick days per year, as well as 12 company-paid holidays per year. We also offer Paid Parental Leave for eligible employees.
