    About the Job:

    As an Election Petition Gatherer, you will play a pivotal role in the Voter Education Project by collecting signatures to get our candidates on the ballot. Your efforts will directly impact the democratic process and contribute to the success of our campaign. This is a temporary position focused on a specific period leading up to the election.

     

    Voter Education Project seeks applicants for a Petition Gathering in Cranford,  NJ. This is a great opportunity for experienced field/community leaders looking to take the next step in their career and gain additional experience. The petition Gathering role varies based on the project, including tasks such as setting up and managing petition signing stations, organizing, and maintaining all necessary materials for signature collection, including petitions, clipboards, informational materials, and promotional items. Keep accurate records of collected signatures, including names, addresses, and contact information. Familiarize yourself with the local election laws and regulations pertaining to petition gathering. Ensure that all collected signatures are valid and meet the specified criteria.

     

    The ideal candidate is/has:

    - Diligent

    - Structured

    - Can be Autonomous.

    - Experienced petition Gatherer (Worked on at least two projects in a petition gathering capacity)

    - Knowledge and experience of Petition Laws

     

    Responsibilities:

    - Work with the Project Manager to ensure all other on-the-ground metrics are exceeded.

    - Work with the Petition Manager to ensure the engagement of progressive communities on the turf.

    - Attend Training and staff meetings.

    - Engage in Community Contact.

    - Arrive on time at the site.

     

    Required Qualifications:

    - Applicants must be able to write and read.

    - Applicants must have reliable transportation to the site.

    - Applicants must hold a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.

    - Applicants must be able to work every day as assigned.

    - Applicants must be able to walk for 8 hours a day.

     

    Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):

    - You have experience petition gathering.

    - You have a strong knowledge of field targeting and metrics.

    - You have Local knowledge, Strong understanding of Cranford, NJ demographics, and local issues.

     

    Compensation:

    $22/hour
