As a valuable member of our Water Business Line, you will join an experienced team of engineers, planners, project managers, and environmental scientists. You will sit in our Westfield headquarters with a hybrid remote approach to working in the office and flexible Fridays in the summer.
Our Water Team and Projects
Nearly 100 professionals including engineers and planners and recent recipients of multiple ACEC Engineering Excellence and ASCE Project Awards, our senior technical and project management leaders have earned an outstanding reputation with private, state, and local government clients. We provide planning, permitting, design, and construction phase services for the construction of new, or improvements to the existing, collection systems and treatment facilities including treatment plants and pump stations. We also assist clients with compliance with the EPA’s Municipal Small Separate Sewer System (MS4) permit requirements and undertake study projects including Comprehensive Wastewater Management Plans and Integrated Water Resource Management Plans.
What will you be doing as a Project Planner/Permitting Specialist?
You will support planning and permitting efforts for a range of projects including public infrastructure, dam removal, electric infrastructure siting, stormwater management, site development, transportation, and other public and private projects, and be involved in the development of municipal planning documents and Feasibility Studies. You will also: review and interpret local, state, and federal land use and environmental regulations; coordinate permit application development; attend and facilitate meetings with clients and regulators including pre-permitting meetings and public hearings; assist with project planning and design, design graphics; write reports; analyze facts involved in the land-use and regulatory decision-making process; research and apply for grant funding; and participate in business development activities.
What do you need?
You will need five or more years of land use planning and permitting, an undergraduate degree in planning, environmental policy, public policy, natural sciences, or a related field. You will be familiar with local, state, and federal environmental and land use regulations, site design, stormwater management, and environmental impact analyses. You will have the ability to work closely with engineers and environmental scientists and can thrive in a fast-paced, multitasking environment, love challenges and details, be resourceful, and have great organizational and time management skills.

Project Environmental Scientists' salaries are determined based on internal equity and market analysis and will vary based on the candidate’s skill and experience; the salary range for this position is $72,000 - $112,000.
