Project Engineering Manager plans and directs all design engineers, drafters, and technical engineers working on specific projects. Manages the development, implementation, and evaluation of complex designs. Being a Project Engineering Manager oversees product construction and testing in order to ensure completion of projects as efficiently and effectively as possible. Evaluates and approves changes that substantially impact the scope, budget, or schedule of a project. Additionally, Project Engineering Manager monitors progress and performance against the project plan. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. Orbital Engineering, Inc. is currently seeking a Project Manager to be based in our Hammond, IN office supporting our Toledo / Detroit region. The position requires well-rounded expertise in the refining, oil & gas ,chemical, and steelmaking industries. Experience in other heavy industrial engineering projects such as manufacturing, mining, materials processing, and utilities will also be considered. Orbital is evaluating candidates based upon their project management experience, technical knowledge, field experience, and engineering design skill sets.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Minimum Requirements
A minimum of 15 years of engineering experience in the utility and industrial environments (particularly oil & gas, chemical and refining) is required. Successful experience in leadership roles managing engineering and design teams in a consulting engineering environment is preferred. Superior communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Project management experience including an understanding and use of project management and project control principles and tools is required. Candidates should have a thorough understanding and aptitude in the use of current computer software including general office products, design and business enterprise software.
This position requires the ability to pass a post-offer drug (including marijuana) and alcohol test in compliance with Federal regulations and is also subject to random testing as a condition of continued employment.
