Main Duties
This is an intermediate level position focused on the performance of high voltage substation projects for multiple utility clients.
Typical duties include (but are not limited to):
§ Manage and coordinate multidiscipline engineering activities to ensure projects are executed in a safe, efficient, cost effective and timely manner.
§ Act as primary technical coordination interface with clients to ensure that the clients’ expectations are satisfied.
§ Ensure that projects conform to the clients’ approved design basis and all applicable regulatory and code requirements.
§ Ensure effective management of the SECo/Client contract including delivery of the budget gross margin.
§ Ensure that there is a clear definition of scope as well as compliance with the requirements of the contract.
§ Proposal Management.
§ Ensure that all project schedules, plans, and estimates are prepared accurately.
§ Manage and monitor project performance on an ongoing basis to identify issues and opportunities early and take preventive action.
§ Manage the engineering design activities to meet the project schedule and take ownership of that schedule.
§ Monitor the key reports and the development of corrective action plans.
§ Ensure effective communications with the project team including progress reporting to the client and to SECo management.
§ Ensure timely and effective documentation turnover and project close-out.
§ Ensure proper QA/QC procedures are complete and schedule appropriate meetings for interdisciplinary checking.
§ Provide reports to clients as necessary.
§ Review and approve invoices.
§ Interface with the Accounting Department to help resolve any billing issues.
Desired Education, Experience and Training
§ Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. PE and/or PMP Certification preferred. Minimum of 7 years of experience in the field with a thorough understanding of utility procedures and practices and knowledge of major electrical utility industry constructions means and methods.
§ Computer proficiency required as well as strong analytical and problem solving skills.
§ Accuracy and attention to detail is critical as well as having the ability to meet deadlines and complete assignments. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
§ Commitment to customer service and ability to work in a team-oriented environment is critical.
