Project Engineering Manager plans and directs all design engineers, drafters, and technical engineers working on specific projects. Manages the development, implementation, and evaluation of complex designs. Being a Project Engineering Manager oversees product construction and testing in order to ensure completion of projects as efficiently and effectively as possible. Evaluates and approves changes that substantially impact the scope, budget, or schedule of a project. Additionally, Project Engineering Manager monitors progress and performance against the project plan. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Project Engineering Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     The Engineering Manager is responsible for the oversight of building maintenance and performance to include both the interior and exterior of the hotel property. This person must be knowledgeable in HVAC, Refrigeration, and Electrical Engineering. The Engineering Manager may also be responsible for interviewing, training, staff development and scheduling. The Engineering Manager will report to the Director of Engineering.

    Performance Expectations:

    • Inspect and monitor the building, equipment and grounds to determine maintenance and preventative maintenance requirements.
    • Responds and resolve engineering service requests in courteous, efficient manner.
    • Develops work procedures and assigns staff to ensure the best service and productivity.
    • Prepare and submit cost estimates and repair options including, suggestions as to feasibility, logical solution and actual needs of a departmental maintenance request.
    • Contacts contractors or craftsmen for bid proposals.
    • Hire and Train all maintenance engineers
    • Monitor payroll and productivity of department to meet forecast and budget
    • Keep a pulse on purchase requests, expenses and utility consumption.
    • Contacts vendors, suppliers and equipment technical support departments to ensure best prices, quality and warranties for purchases made.
    • Keeps records of work accomplished, operating statistics, costs, utilities and preventative maintenance.
    • Directs all emergency programs including equipment maintenance, inspections, staff training, practice drills and compliance with all codes and regulations.
    • Ensures periodic tests are performed on Fire Alarm/Life Safety System.
    • Ensures staff is trained in emergency procedures.
    • Maintains engineering work area in an orderly and clean fashion
    • Establishes standards and procedures for engineering staff.
    • Follow all safety procedures while working.

    Qualifications

    • College degree preferred, or high school diploma or GED equivalency
    • Prior building renovation, expansion or pre-opening experience a plus
    • 1 years supervisory/management experience a plus
    • 1 years building maintenance experience required
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Previous customer service experience a plus
    • Required to work weekends/nights/holidays as needed determined by business
    • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
