Project Engineering Manager plans and directs all design engineers, drafters, and technical engineers working on specific projects. Manages the development, implementation, and evaluation of complex designs. Being a Project Engineering Manager oversees product construction and testing in order to ensure completion of projects as efficiently and effectively as possible. Evaluates and approves changes that substantially impact the scope, budget, or schedule of a project. Additionally, Project Engineering Manager monitors progress and performance against the project plan. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Project Engineering Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     GPIis seeking a full-time Transportation Project Manager for our growing Highway Design Group in our Bedford, NH office.     Responsibilities:
    • Management, supervision, and design of transportation projects for public agencies and municipalities in New Hampshire and/or Maine
    • Supervision and development of Plans, Specifications, and Estimates for projects under the oversight of the Director of Transportation Engineering
    • Directing and mentoring team members in the production of transportation design projects
    • Development of project contracts, schedules, budgets, and quality control plans
    • Presenting of highway-related design elements to clients and stakeholders
    • Providing quality control for construction plans and design documents generated by other team members
    Qualifications:
    • BS in Civil Engineering
    • New Hampshire and/or Maine PE license
    • NHDOT, MaineDOT, MTA, and/or Northern New England municipal client experience
    • Proficiency using Bentley MicroStation / OpenRoads Designer
    • Able to interpret and apply technical information contained in procedures and manuals (including state-specific manuals) to accomplish the design process for assigned projects
    • Ability to work effectively with an interdisciplinary team to develop solutions to complex design challenges, while adhering to schedule and budgetary requirements
    • Strong technical writing and communication skills
    • Progressive experience in highway design for public agencies

    Requirements

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
    • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
    • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
    • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
    • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
