Project Controls Manager develops and implements standardized project controls to manage budgets, scheduling, and quality for engineering, construction, and other types of projects. Establishes controls and operating policies that identify, monitor, and mitigate risk factors that could impact the success of a project. Being a Project Controls Manager creates standard methods for project estimating, procurement, accounting, work breakdown structure, contract management, reporting, and other project-related processes. Ensures controls address cost or budget considerations, scope changes, supplier performance, and other risk levels. This is a Project Controls Planning role on the client side of a transformational project which includes the retirement of the existing coal-fueled units; installation of new natural gas-fueled electricity generating units capable of utilizing hydrogen for 840 megawatts net generation output; and modernization of a Transmission System to Southern California. This role is specific to the substation and converter station portion of the project which will be located in Adelanto, California.
This role will start virtually and will require the professional to be on site full time in approximately Feb 2023 in Adelanto, CA. Experience in cost, schedule, and change management required. This position is not planned to have direct reports. Occasional travel to the other Project site in Delta, Utah is anticipated.
Leads project controls program on a substation and transmission line project. Is an integral part of the management team for project success. Collaborates with the project management leadership team to ensure project success. Identifies improvements to processes. Leads project controls process and systems development. Responsible for all cost, schedule, earned value, risk and change management for the project.
Experience serving in a Leadership role for a medium- to large-sized EPC project in both Home Office and Field preferred. Prefer certificate from either PMI or AACE.
Education: Master's Preferred in Construction Management or Engineering
Four-year Bachelor's degree with ten or more years of relevant Cost Control of Planning and Scheduling experience OR no four-year Bachelor's degree required with twelve years or more of relevant Cost Control or Planning and Scheduling experience in Home Office or Field Office.
