Position Purpose: The essential function of the Sport Program Supervisor is to setup and supervise all youth and adult sports programs, including participants, spectators, and staff that occur in both indoor and outdoor facilities. Sports include, baseball, basketball, flag football, softball, t-ball, volleyball, kickball, ultimate, futsal and pickleball. 

Essential Functions 

• Provides excellent customer service and possesses a service philosophy which reflects the mission for the Parks and Recreation Department. 
• Establishes and maintains cooperative professional working relationships with others, individually and in a team environment. 
• Opens and prepares facility for use prior to arrival of participants, spectators, and staff. 
• Works in a team environment and get along with coworkers and other MPRD staff members. 
• Possesses characteristics of a strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail. 
• Supervises other staff members and makes the necessary changes in officials and scorekeepers schedules if needed. 
• Welcomes staff, players, coaches, and spectators as they arrive. 
• Observes staff, players, coaches, spectators and all aspects of the game and facility. 
• Ensures rules, policies and procedures are being observed and followed. 
• Responds to all incidents, accidents, and injuries, including documentation and reporting. 
• Performs other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills and Additional Qualifications 

• 18 years of age or older.  
• Must be able to complete American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid training (provided by MPRD). 

Preferred Knowledge and Skills 

• Knowledge and experience of youth sports, game rules, and regulations is preferred.

• This is not a KPERS covered position.
