    5 years of professional experience in a human services program providing vocational/employment- oriented guidance to people disadvantaged youth or individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

    Preferred experience:

    Experience supervising people with developmental disabilities enrolled in vocational/employment-oriented programs. This experience should include the following functions: recruitment of participants, assessment and selection of candidates, development of community job opportunities, networking with businesses, job training, classroom instruction, job coaching, counseling and community advocacy for employment opportunities for people with developmental disabilities.

    The Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), is seeking a Youth Program Supervisor to coordinate the Employment Training Program (ETP), provided through supported employment (SEMP). This program is designed to provide people with individuals with developmental disabilities with training and an on-the-job work experience that will lead to competitive employment.

    Duties Description
    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    As a Youth Program Supervisor, the responsibilities of the incumbent may include but are not limited to the following:

    • Evaluate individual application packets for ETP acceptance and eligibility. Packets include Psychological or Psycho-Social Reports, Life Plans, Work History, Behavioral Plans, recommendations, and other information.
    • Interview applicants and prepare interview summary, determine the applicant’s work readiness.
    • Coordinate with care managers, SEMP Provider Agencies, schools and residential staff to determine eligibility for ETP.
    • Provide orientation and prepare the required employment documents for the applicant to become an OPWDD employee.
    • Provide an ETP orientation to the accepted individuals outlining program requirements.
    • Meet with participants to discuss and outline a career plan for the individual. Determine employment expectations and provide a clear outline of the qualifications needed in a chosen field.
    • Monitor provider agencies and schools for the quality and quantity of services provided in ETP. Monitor job development and discovery services to assure timely completion and determine if these SEMP activities are benefiting the individual and advancing their employment goals.
    • Review and approve the Discovery Report completed by Provider Agencies. Evaluate the information in the discovery report to determine work readiness and approve job development or recommend another service.
    • Evaluate the worksite placements developed by providers and schools to assure that the position matches the skills and abilities of the individual.
    • Prepare and submit payroll by collecting time sheets and calculating the total hours worked.
    • Visit jobsites and meet with employers to determine if the person is meeting the expectations of the business.
    • Conduct regular Job Readiness Classes with the curriculum provided. Add resources as needed.
    • Schedule quarterly meetings with providers and schools to review services. Facilitate these calls and highlight challenges and programmatic concerns.
    • Identify need for technical assistance and liaison with OPWDD staff.
    • Support Central Office staff with reports, information and regular communication to assure data collection for statewide reporting.
    • Work closely with school districts to assist in the transition of students from high school to OPWDD adult employment services. Meetings and regular communication with school district transition coordinators and teachers.
    • Complete regular Progress Reports for new interns and trainees to determine their vocational progress and additional programmatic needs.
    • Assist with the development of ETP practices and provide input for quality improvement.
    • Present to self-advocates, schools, families, provider agencies, CCO`s regionally as requested.
    • Recommend/approve additional SEMP hours for a participant based on need.
    • Utilize the statewide ETP database and assure that the status of each person in their program is accurate.
    • Continually recruit and serve people with intellectual developmental disabilities who would like to obtain employment.
    • Other duties as assigned.
