    School Photographers of America (SPOA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educate, advocate, promote, protect and preserve the great traditions of school photography and yearbooks.
    School photography has been a staple for schools and parents across the United States for generations. School pictures are used every day for student safety through products like ID Cards, safety cards, digital directories and urgent safety initiatives like Amber Alerts. In addition, other industries rely on school photography for the creation of their products such as yearbooks, administration software, online learning and many more. School photography plays an integral part in all US public and private schools.

    School Photographers of America is the national trade Association for school photography and yearbooks. SPOA replaces two former organizations.


    Position Summary
    The Executive Director serves both the Governing board and Executive board. The Executive Director champions SPOA's mission, vision, drives results, and propels the Association forward. The Executive Director stewards its resources and provides accountability of SPOA to its diverse constituents.
    The ideal candidate for this position possesses:
    ● The qualities of a visionary, innovative leader with the ability to craft a vision, confront needed changes, and communicate the strategic future so as to inspire others to work toward that future.
    ● Experience with and understanding of the Photography industry.
    ● Superior management abilities demonstrated in a large organization with: budget management including profit and loss accountability, planning, delegating, and building a cohesive leadership team.
    ● Communication, innovation, and problem-solving skills applicable to all types of situations.
    ● The ability to increase visibility of the Association, and advocate for its members and staff.
    Primary Responsibilities
    Defines and champions the vision, mission, and strategies of SPOA.
    ● Gives direction to the formulation and timely progress of the Association's short-term and long-term goals, vision, mission, and strategic plan. Communicates regularly with the officers of the Governing and Executive boards.
    ● Ensure that the Association has a thriving future and that the internal and external stakeholders are aligned on the vision.
    ● Monitor, develop, and submit the Association's legislative agenda to the Governing Board.
    ● Propose possible amendments to the bylaws to the Governing Board.
    ● Oversee conference(s), programs, services, and activities to ensure that mission and program objectives are met.
    ● Develop, maintain, and audit the certification process of certified companies by the Association.
    ● Submit an annual report to the Governing Board.
    ● Provides Support to the Board of Directors of SPOA.


    Charts the direction and drives for results.
    ● Implement Association policies
    ● Dispense advice, guidance, direction, and authorization to carry out major plans, standards and procedures
    Provides External Leadership
    ● Serve as chief spokesperson for the association and ensure that the Association is properly represented in the media and to its stakeholders.
    ● Facilitate all Strategic Partner initiatives.
    ● Maintain and develop knowledge of changes in policies, practices, and personnel
    ● Promote advocacy at the Local and National Level by collaborating with fellow leaders
    Promote the Association
    • Write, manage, and/or coordinate the monthly newsletter.
    • Manage the Association's website and its postings, and social media.
    • Manage and attend association events (such as NASSP).
    Manages the Association and Stewards its Resources
    ● Association Leadership
    ○ Facilitate officer meetings and board meetings
    ● Financial Stewardship
    ○ With the assistance of the Treasurer, prepare the operating budget covering all activities of the Association subject to approval and adoption by the Governing Board.
    ○ Responsible for all expenditures within the approved budget allocation.
    ○ Receive all monies due the Association and deposit or invest
    ■ Invoices member companies, strategic partners and conference booths
    ○ Ensure development and manage yearly budget
    ○ Represent the Association in business negotiations, agreements and contracts.


    Qualifications
    ● At least ten years professional management experience working in the field of volume photography preferred.
    ● A Masters degree (MA or MS) in a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred.


    Compensation
    The projected compensation range for this position will be competitive and in accordance with the background and experience of the selected candidate.
