Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Sociology typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     Job Description

    The Department of Sociology at Augsburg University invites applications for adjunct faculty positions to teach introductory courses in Sociology during the 2023-2024 and 2024 - 2025 academic years. Responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate level in person and during our Day schedule (between the hours of 7:50 am to 5:20 pm). Our greatest need is for instructors who can teach Introduction to Sociology. We have varying needs for the next 2 years for the following: Introduction to Urban Sociology; Family Systems; Race, Class, Gender; Introduction to Criminology, and Topics courses (that the Candidate can propose). Instructors are expected to respond to student questions through email and hold regularly scheduled office hours.  This is a union position, covered by a collective bargaining agreement with SEIU. Three courses are possible.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master's degree in Sociology or closely related field.
    • At least 18 semester hour credits of graduate coursework in Sociology or closely related field

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Teaching experience at undergraduate level in Sociology or related field.
