    Job Description

    The School of Social Work (SSW) in the College of Health Sciences (CHS) at the University of Missouri (MU) - Columbia, invites applications from persons interested in a full-time, 9-month, tenure/tenure-track faculty, Assistant/Associate/Full Professor position beginning in the 2024-2025 academic year. The distribution of job duties for tenure/tenure-track faculty consists of 40% research; 40% teaching at the BSW, MSW, and/or PhD level; and 20% service/administration.

    Qualifications

    Qualified candidates will have a doctoral degree in social work, social welfare, or a closely related field by the time of appointment.

    Additionally, candidates will be evaluated on:

    • Evidence of successful teaching experience.
    • Experience with diverse populations.
    • Substantive expertise related to social and economic justice. Priority will be given to the emphasis in the following areas:
      • substance use
      • health disparities based on race
      • sexual or gender identity
      • persons with disabilities
      • women's health and reproductive rights

    • Evidence of success in scholarly productivity
    • Success or potential to engage in externally funded research
    Anticipated Hiring Range

    Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience of the applicant.

    The mission of the MU-SSW is to promote leadership for social and economic justice by preparing students for professional excellence and leadership in practice, research, and policy. The MU-SSW has 23 faculty (52% tenure/tenure track and 48% non-tenure track) and staff support for academic and research functions- including grant writing, pre-award, and post-award support. Presently, the MU-SSW has about 450 students (Pre-majors, BSWs, MSWs, and PhDs) and offers an MSW/MPH dual degree program, a joint MSW/PhD program, and a minor in Justice Studies. The MU-SSW is home to the which is a faculty supervised and student facilitated clinic offering free social, emotional and behavioral health supports to under and un-insured persons.
