Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Medical Ethics typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. Responsibilities: The College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH) and the College of Engineering (COE) at Northeastern University invite applications and nominations for Assistant, Associate, or Full Teaching Professor positions in the area of engineering, technology and/or design ethics. The candidates filling these positions will be jointly appointed between CSSH (primary appointment) and COE (secondary appointment). They will be responsible for helping to develop and deliver a robust engineering and design ethics curriculum, including teaching technology and engineering ethics courses and integrating ethics content into foundational and advanced level COE courses. They will also contribute ethics education expertise to interdisciplinary projects and proposals. The successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in pedagogy, as well as evidence of experience and achievement in undergraduate ethics education. These are untenured, but continuing and tracked positions with the possibility of promotion to Associate and Full Teaching Professor, as well as multi-year (3 year and 5 year) contracts. Qualifications: Candidates should have demonstrated commitment to fostering diverse and inclusive environments as well as to promoting experiential learning, which are central to a Northeastern University education. A Ph.D. in Philosophy, Science and Technology Studies (STS) or a related field in hand by the appointment start date is required.
