Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Mathematics provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Mathematics typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.   • George Fox University announces a part-time, adjunct faculty position in mathematics, to begin in the fall and/or spring semester, as needed. The School of Natural Sciences is seeking an instructor who is enthusiastic about educating the next generation of students in our growing programs.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Primary teaching responsibilities involve face to face lecture sections of Discrete Mathematics on the Newberg campus, three days a week. Other courses may also be available.
    • Course Description: Discrete Mathematics (3 hours) An introduction to discrete mathematics. Topics covered include sets, functions, math induction, combinatorics, recurrence, graph theory, trees, and networks. Three lectures per week.

    Qualifications

    • B.S. or higher is required in mathematics or related field. M.S. or higher preferred.
    • Previous teaching experience in related fields is desirable (but not required).
    • Excellent professional, interpersonal, organization, and communication skills.
    • A commitment to working with a diverse population of students is essential; demonstrated experience in this area is preferred.
    • All applicants must express a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a local church. In addition, professors agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.
    • Candidates must have legal authority to permanently work in the U.S. When employed by George Fox University, employees of George Fox University must be a resident of one of the following states: Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho, New York, Ohio, or Texas.
