The Economics Center at the University of Cincinnati is currently accepting applications for a Research Associate. This is an at-will, full-time professional position reporting to the Center's Director of Research. The Research Associate is responsible for conducting research tasks, and accurate, on-time completion of contract research projects and may also serve as a primary point of contact with clients.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Participate in multiple research projects, as principal investigator (Pl), project manager (PM), or as project staff;
· Conduct applied research tasks which include, but are not limited to: literature reviews, data collection, statistical calculations and analysis using regressions and input-output models, economic impact analyses, report writing, and presentation of findings to clients;
· Detail research findings and analyses in written, client-facing reports;
· Work with the Director of Research to achieve the highest level of client communications, meet project milestones, problem-solve, and adapt approaches as necessary to meet project goals;
· Collaborate with other full-time research staff;
· Provide regular research updates to the Director of Research, seek solutions to research challenges, improve research efficiencies, and maintain effective client relations;
· Other duties as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, Statistics, Urban and Community Planning, or related field. Master’s degree is preferred.
Ideal Qualifications: Experience conducting applied research in a professional environment or research-based consulting work. Strong writing and quantitative analysis skills.
Necessary Skills:
· Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products;
· Strong analytics skills including statistical analysis with econometric techniques;
· Strong data skills including identification of appropriate data sources and experience working with a variety of economic and survey data;
· Knowledge of basic economic theory and economic development topics and issues;
· Excellent oral and written communication skills;
· Experience working with statistical programs such as R, Stata, or SAS;
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
