Converse University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Computer Science within the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the assistant professor level to begin in August 2024. The department supports majors and minors in Mathematics and Computer Science, as well as a minor in Data Science. The Computer Science major has been revived for the 2023-2024 academic year, and this new faculty position will support the revitalized major program. The ideal candidate will contribute to our existing course offerings in Computer Science and will also be able to offer new courses overlapping with the Data Science minor. This position provides a unique opportunity to shape and develop the Computer Science major program within an active and growing department. The teaching load is typically three courses per semester, plus one course in January term. Additional responsibilities include contributing to the university's general education program, advising students, further developing the Computer Science major, continued professional development, and providing service to the department, university, and professional community.
Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field by August 15, 2024. Candidates with a master's degree and significant industry experience are also invited to apply. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts setting, as well as a commitment to inclusive excellence, and provide evidence of excellence in teaching and research potential.
