    Earlham College is seeking an Assistant Professor of Computer Science to join our team.

     

    Summary of position: 

     

    Earlham College invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Department of Computer Science at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in July 2024. Computer Science at Earlham is a growing, dynamic program, with an orientation towards combining rigorous foundations with experiential education and collaboration with other departments as key components of our approach. We are committed to building an inclusive program that is welcoming to a wide variety of students and faculty. Our students are engaged in a very high level of undergraduate research, application development and system support activity with faculty and the department’s computational systems manager.

     

     

     

    Responsibilities:

     

                Typical course load is three courses per semester; upper-division classes usually have no more than 20 students. Candidates in all areas of specialization are welcome; interest in being involved in undergraduate research and/or one or more of the student Applied Science Groups is highly desirable, as is an interest in multidisciplinary collaborations. The department is currently expanding our focus in Cybersecurity, System Administration, Game Design, and Computing for Social Good, but applicants from all areas will be considered. An ideal candidate will have experience in building diverse and inclusive communities.

    Qualifications


    • The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related discipline by the start date and be able to teach a broad spectrum of courses across the ACM/IEEE curriculum. It is possible that candidates who are ABD or, in exceptional circumstances, have equivalent experience, will also be considered.
