Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Teaching a full-time course load in the Communication program for Fall and Spring semesters (Non-tenure track: 30 total credits, 15 credits per semester )
    • Serving in the core liberal arts foundation for all Undergraduate students.
    • Complying with campus and division policies in performance of duties.
    • Participating in departmental functions such as staff, department, and division meetings.
    • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
    • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
    • Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    We're looking for candidates who have:

    • A Ph.D. or M.A. in Communication, public relations, strategic communication, or related field.
    • The demonstrated teaching ability in communication classes at the undergraduate level.
    • Prior teaching experience in one or more of the following courses: introduction to communication, public speaking, strategic communication, digital and social media, public relations, organizational communication.
    • A demonstrated record of professional integrity and strong work ethic, collegiality and commitment to equity and inclusion.
    • The demonstrated ability to contribute to a positive working environment and work collaboratively with colleagues and community.
    • A commitment to working with a diverse population of students is essential; demonstrated experience in this area is preferred.
    • A willingness to engage a robust continuous improvement process including outcomes based assessment of curricula and programming
    • Demonstrated success and or aptitude for remote, hybrid, and face to face instruction.
    • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.

    Preference will be given to those who have the following attributes:

    • Experience in the creation and teaching of digital asynchronous courses.
    • Experience with student and program assessment.
    • Experience supervising and mentoring students in the context of internship and practicum work.
    • Excellent communication, evidence of leadership, organizational, and management skills which would suggest aptitude for recruiting and outreach potential, to both grow the program and industry connections to the major.

    Salary and rank:

    • Appointment at the Assistant Professor level is anticipated, though candidates with significant teaching experience at previous institutions may be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor.
