Professor - Chemistry jobs in Monroe, LA
Professor - Chemistry teaches courses in the discipline area of chemistry. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Chemistry provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Chemistry typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. The Chemistry Program within the School of Sciences at the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) is seeking an innovative individual to teach chemistry undergraduate courses starting Fall 2024. The School of Sciences offers a bachelor’s degree in chemistry with concentrations in biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, and forensic chemistry.
- Teach undergraduate courses during the fall and spring semester.
- Advise students and maintain records of student progress.
- Assist in all areas of program improvement, including participation in curriculum development, evaluation, and assessment.
- Actively participate in recruitment for the Chemistry degree program.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Candidates must be passionate about teaching undergraduates. Candidates should have at least a master’s degree in chemistry or related field with a minimum of 18 semester hours of graduate chemistry coursework. Qualifications include:
- Innovative pedagogical approaches to teaching undergraduates from diverse backgrounds
- Coursework and/or experience in chemistry or related field
- Effective oral and written communication skills
