    The Associate Scientist I is responsible for leading R&D projects, performing literature reviews and intellectual property evaluation, participating in external research collaborations, and providing research, technical support to current and potential customers.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead R&D projects with regular supervision.
    • Perform literature reviews and incorporating into research strategies.
    • Participate in external research collaborations, with management.
    • Actively identify and lead research areas that could lead to new product development or process improvement, with minimal supervision.
    • Independently develop SOPs, research protocols, and research methods.
    • Maintain accurate and detailed electronic laboratory notebooks.
    • Independently perform laboratory experiments (plan, execute, analyze, and interpret results).
    • Independently perform advanced data analysis and interpretation, including statistical analysis.
    • Generate scientific publications used for internal or external purposes and review internal publications.
    • Prepare and present research reports in multiple formats for both internal and external audiences.
    • Must adhere to laboratory standard operating procedures, documentation and guidelines.
    • Troubleshoot issues with laboratory equipment and instrumentation.

    Qualifications

    • Education & Experience:
      • PhD in organic chemistry, natural product chemistry, food chemistry/science or related scientific fields with 0-2 years of relevant experience in in food, flavor, beverage and agricultural industry, OR
      • Masters in organic chemistry, natural product chemistry, food chemistry/science or related scientific fields with 4 years of relevant experience in food, flavor and agricultural industry OR
      • Bachelor in organic chemistry, natural product chemistry, food chemistry/science or related scientific fields with 7 years of relevant experience in in food, flavor and agricultural industry
    • This position may be hired at a higher or lower level commensurate with experience.
    • Detail oriented, organized, prioritization skills, and motivated by accomplishment.
    • Must be able to work independently and work as a team in a fast-paced
    • Strong experimental design, data collection, and problem-solving skills.
    • Good written and oral communication skills, suitable for external presentations.
    • service to internal and external customers.
    • Advanced computer knowledge (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.), ability to understand and perform basic statistical analysis
    • Scientific curiosity and innovation.
    • Handle multiple projects efficiently.
    • Good project management skills.
    • Ability to apply knowledge quickly to projects.
    • Fluent in English
