Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     Summary:  The McColl School of Business at Queens University of Charlotte invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Accounting beginning August 2024. We are looking for candidates with expertise in financial accounting, and we are particularly excited about candidates passionate about cultivating multidisciplinary perspectives and collaborating in the fields of accounting, analytics, and finance. Queens University is committed to pursuing innovative program models that openly engage students in high-impact learning and scholarship. The ability to contribute to this vision through any or all of the following is also desirable: effective interdisciplinary teaching in the general education curriculum, the development of new accounting or business courses, contribution to the data science and data analytics programs at the undergraduate and graduate level, and contribution to the university honors program. This position is exempt from provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is not eligible to earn overtime pay or compensatory time off for additional hours worked. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

    Responsibilities (include): 

    • Teach undergraduate and graduate students (delivered through multiple modalities)
    • Teach introductory and upper level courses in accounting, and potentially courses in at least one of the following areas: intermediate accounting, accounting for managers (graduate) accounting analytics, or financial statement analysis. 
    • Sustain currency and relevancy through a scholarly research agenda leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals 
    • Engage in activities to maintain status as a scholarly academic for AACSB accreditation 
    • Contribute to course design and curriculum development 
    • Mentor and advise students 
    • Collaborate with industry professionals and participate in service activities 
    • Serve as an active faculty member of the McColl School of Business and Queens University 

    Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

    • Other duties and special projects may be assigned to meet department and/or university goals

    Qualifications

    Essential Experience, Knowledge and Skills

    • Doctoral degree in Accounting or a related/relevant field. ABDs with significant progress towards finishing their degree may also apply for the positions. 
    • Teaching experience at the college / post-secondary level.
    • A scholarly research agenda leading to peer-reviewed journal publications. 
    • Ability to build innovative learning experiences that meet the needs of graduate and undergraduate learners. 
    • Interest in working with students in a mentoring and advising capacity. 
    • Interest in incorporating live cases or projects in partnership with local companies
    • Qualifications sufficient to satisfy McColl School expectations to be classified as a scholarly academic at time of hire. 

    Preferred Qualifications: 

    • Professional accounting certification
    • Experience teaching in an online environment and using technology-supported pedagogies
