  • RhinoAg is currently accepting applications to fill the salaried exempt position of2nd Shift Production Supervisor, normal department shift schedule Monday - Thursday 2:00 PM - 12:30 AM, at its facility in Illinois. Under general supervision, the 2nd Shift Production Supervisor performs duties to oversee and coordinate activities of workers engaged in the production of RhinoAg equipment. Directs daily work, organizes and maintains production schedules and coordinates flow of material and labor through the department. Ensures department meets established safety standards and production goals.
    Requirements:

    Essential Functions of the Job:

    • Excellent communications skills to aid in the direction of daily work within the department.
    • Determines staffing levels and manpower schedules based on workload, redirect labor to different work cells based on schedule needs.
    • Prioritizes and assigns work orders. Works closely with production planning and control.
    • Inspects work to ensure accuracy to specifications, clearly defines expectations of safety, production efficiency and quality to direct reports. Ability to trouble shoot issues with troubleshoot and determine root cause.
    • Monitors backlog, work order flow, identify bottlenecks and adjust labor and material to resolve delay.
    • Coordinates flow of material through department. Ensures work orders and material transactions are accurate and complete.
    • Recommends improvements to production methods, equipment, quality, working conditions and efficiency. Assists employees with work-related problems.
    • Maintains time and production records. Analyzes departmental production performance.
    • Completes and conducts employees' performance evaluations. Recommends personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, or appropriate disciplinary action.
    • Conducts and monitors training programs and conducts department meetings and toolbox talks.
    • Identifies and enforces department safety and housekeeping rules.
    • Trains workers in operation and safety of equipment and machines.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):

    • Knowledge and understanding of production processes, machines and tools, including their design, uses, repair and maintenance.
    • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodologies and principles.
    • Able to identify complex problems and review related information to develop, evaluate and implement options and solutions.
    • Able to set work schedules, by department, to ensure manpower is available to meet production schedule.
    • Strong planning skills with the ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
    • Able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, operator's manuals, and assembly instructions.
    • Able to use hand and power tools and perform basic measurements using tape measure, protractor, and other measuring devices
    • Skilled and proficient with the use of personal computers; including standard office software (i.e. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to present information and interact with all levels.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills; able to problem solve, persuade, motivate and train others.
    • Must be physically capable of standing/walking for 8 hour shifts.
    • Must be able to work irregular and/or extended hours, including weekends as needed. Limited travel as necessary.

    Education and Experience:

    • High school diploma or GED required. Associate's degree in manufacturing or industrial technology or related field preferred.
    • Requires three to five years of practical industrial manufacturing experience, preferably in welding, assembly, and/or machining and fabrication, and a minimum of one year, previous supervisory experience required.
    • Previous experience with robotic welding and automated laser cutting strongly preferred.
    • Previous work experience in a Lean manufacturing environment highly desired.
    • Requires background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs and procedures and a thorough knowledge of mechanical principles.

    Working Conditions:

    • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines/production schedules.
    • Physically capable of standing/working 8 hour shift(s).
    • Able to wear the required PPE (personal protective equipment).
    • Able to work overtime, including weekends. May require occasional travel.
