Production Painter operates a spray painter or other equipment to apply industrial paint finishes on metals or products. Mixes paints and other solutions and monitors drying to ensure desired results. Being a Production Painter completes finishing with baking, polishing or other materials. Follows all required safety procedures. Additionally, Production Painter may paint items by hand as needed. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to supervisor/manager. May require an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. The Production Painter possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Painter to join our team. As a Painter, you will be responsible for painting and coating processes including enamels, polyurethanes and epoxies on various surfaces according to project specifications. Your attention to detail and precision will be crucial in ensuring high-quality results. Proper screenings apply for this position (respirator fit, etc.) as well as adhering to established safety rules and practices and environmental procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare parts for painting, prepares the proper mixture of materials to be used. Prepare and apply coating materials such as primers and topcoats per manufacturer requirements:
- Select appropriate paint or finish for each project based on specifications
- Mix paints and other materials to achieve desired colors and textures
- Apply paint or finishes using spray equipment
- Ensure proper coverage and smooth application of paint or finishes
- Use precision measuring instruments to ensure accurate dimensions and alignment
- Utilize power tools and hand tools as necessary for surface preparation and painting
- Perform basic math calculations to determine quantities of materials needed
- Repair damaged surfaces or perform repair as required
- Safely operate cranes or other equipment for materials handling purposes
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
Skills:
- MUST possess knowledge, skill and ability to apply painting principles, identify and correct problems such as fisheye, poor adhesion or rough coatings
-MUST have experience with gravity feed HVLP commercial paint gun
-Must use computerized job entry for work orders and independently execute
- Basic math skills for calculating material quantities and measurements, along with ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches
-MUST have knowledge/skill to interpret specifications to determine color, coating thickness, applicable mixing instructions-all factors that affect the finished product
- Strong materials handling skills to safely transport paints and supplies
