Production Manager manages operations of production areas to ensure that volume, cost, waste, and quality standards are achieved. Follows overall production schedules to manage staffing and establish daily and shift production goals. Being a Production Manager monitors shift production metrics to identify and resolve issues and implement process improvements. Coordinates maintenance, turnarounds, and downtime for efficiency and speed. Additionally, Production Manager ensures that staff training processes, equipment, gear, and tool requirements are fulfilled to comply with health and safety regulations. Coaches teams in best practices to provide a safe and efficient work environment and resolve escalated issues and problems. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a senior manager. The Production Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions.     Essential Job Duties
    The Production Manager position supports the NC State Student Centers Events Team and is the lead administrator for the Production team. The Production Manager provides technical work in the operation, maintenance and production of a wide variety of audiovisual equipment and materials.

    Responsibilities include but not limited to:
    • Transporting, setting up and operating audiovisual equipment in conjunction with meetings, events, conferences, and classroom instruction sessions
    • Maintaining equipment inventory and checkout
    • Coordinating equipment troubleshooting/maintenance
    • Advise the Student Centers Leadership Team in the selection, use, and design of audiovisual equipment for NC State Student Centers event spaces
    • Provide training for SHRA, temporary, and student staff in equipment operation and troubleshooting
    • Prioritize customer service in the leadership of the Production Team by establishing Event Management SOPs that emphasize a positive client experience
    • Directly supervise 1 SHRA Production Coordinator, 3 Temporary Production Assistants, and 12-18 Student Event Assistants/Managers, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.

    Other Responsibilities
    • Model the Division’s mission and values, introduce the Division’s mission and values to the employees, and foster a positive, cohesive workplace and congeniality among co-workers.
    • Understand the goals and culture of the organization, and understand how employees’ work activities, teamwork, and customer service impact clients. Work with your supervisor and colleagues to understand these goals and the culture.
    • Adhere to all University policies, procedures, and regulations, and Division standard operating practices and protocols.
    • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure NC State Student Centers business needs are met.
    • Position will require the use of NC State vehicles to travel between student union buildings for events.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Experience/Education

    High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in audiovisual equipment operation and maintenance, graphic design, and/or photography; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

    • Develop, implement and evaluate programs, including establishing goals and objectives and setting appropriate deadlines.
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Experience with recruiting, hiring, training, and scheduling.
    • Previous supervisory experience, including providing guidance and direction to personnel.
    • Effectively communicate, written and oral, expectations, policies, procedures, and event requirements to a diverse population of students, staff, and clients.
    • Ability to use or learn to use email and use a PC and MS Office Suite (or similar) proficiently.
    • Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • In-depth knowledge of NC State Student Centers employment programs, policies, and procedures.
    • Experience with best practices and software for audio-visual equipment and operations.
    • Advanced knowledge of audiovisual equipment operation and maintenance, including but not limited to projectors, microphones, DM boxes, and portable sound systems.
    • Experience in a large student union setting, preferably with multiple facilities.
