Production Manager manages operations of production areas to ensure that volume, cost, waste, and quality standards are achieved. Follows overall production schedules to manage staffing and establish daily and shift production goals. Being a Production Manager monitors shift production metrics to identify and resolve issues and implement process improvements. Coordinates maintenance, turnarounds, and downtime for efficiency and speed. Additionally, Production Manager ensures that staff training processes, equipment, gear, and tool requirements are fulfilled to comply with health and safety regulations. Coaches teams in best practices to provide a safe and efficient work environment and resolve escalated issues and problems. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a senior manager. The Production Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Production Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • PRODUCTION MANAGER - Hoopeston, IL WHAT YOU'LL DO: The responsibilities of the Production Manager include, but are not limited to the following: Oversees and manages all aspects of the production process from raw material usage through finished product production and storage. Supervise all production employees and processes for the production of products that meet quality and food safety standards and specifications. Monitors all aspects of the washing, cooking, drying, and packaging process. Maintain control of the cooking and drying process, implementing operational changes as necessary to produce products within approved operational parameters. Responsible for immediately reporting any food safety and quality problems or potential food safety/quality issues to the QA Manager. Train production employees in GMPs, sanitation, safety, standard operating procedures/work instructions, and company policies & programs as appropriate. Enforce said programs. Supervise and document the sanitation process. Perform pre-op inspections and product change-over inspections to ensure the cleanliness of equipment. Follow the written production schedule. Ensure materials and labels are correct for the product that is to be produced. Complete the required daily documentation for the position. Enforce company policies and programs. Ensure shift coverage of positions as well as initial training of temporary employees. Communicate with Quality Assurance personnel to ensure the product is being made and handled in accordance with quality standards and within specifications. Communicate with Maintenance personnel about any mechanical problems. Ensure areas are cleaned after maintenance repairs as required. Conduct and/or participate in plant, GMP, and/or facility inspections as appropriate and designated. WHAT YOU'LL NEED: A bachelor's degree in business or manufacturing is preferred. Minimum of 2 years experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably food manufacturing, or previous supervisory experience. Must possess a positive attitude and excellent people skills.
